Fourways

The area known as Fourways is situated in the Northern Suburbs of Sandton, north of Johannesburg. Before the district became famous as Fourways it was home to the Eriksen family who owned a 245-hectare game farm. They made this large farm their residence in 1940 when they built Norscot Manor, a classic Cape Dutch house. After they sold the farm piece by piece, Norscot Manor became the property of City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. This famous Cape Dutch residence became a recreation centre known as Norscot Recreation Centre. Up until today it is mostly used as a library but also serves the community with an art gallery, dance studio, Irish lessons for children, and a playground and tea garden.

Fourways is known for its collection of suburbs known as Little Fourways, Norscot, Fourways, Pineslopes, Lonehill, Beverley, Craigavon and Broadacres. There are five popular residential estates namely Cedar Lakes, Fourways Gardens, Dainfern Golf & Residential Estate, Dainfern Valley and Fernbrook Estate.

Accessibility and amenities

Fourways is regarded as the fastest developing commercial and residential hub in the Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg, largely due to its central location with access points from the N1 at William Nicol Drive, Witkoppen Road and the N14 Lanseria off ramp. A big drawcard to the area is the residential development, along with reputable private and government schools such as Crawford Pre-Primary, Fourways High School, Junior Colleges - Fourways and Education Incorporated Private Boutique School.

Surrounding amenities include the famous revamped Fourways Mall which is now 175,000m² and offers over 400 different stores. Fourways Crossing is an upmarket lifestyle centre with anchor stores such as Pick n Pay, Sportsmans Warehouse, Toys R Us, Viva Gym, Mr Price Sports, Apparel, and Cotton On. Design Quarter is a unique and inspiring shopping centre.

Commercial space and office parks

Some popular office parks in Fourways include Willow Wood Office Park, Cedar Tree Office Park, Golf Park, Fourways Office Park, Monte Circle and The Pivot, Waterford Office Park and Design Quarter Business Office Park.

The park is well maintained and well located on the R562 road leading to Midrand to the West and the R21 highway to the East. Large companies like Pioneer Foods have developed new premises there.

Rentals range from R95/m2 for B grade offices to R195/m² for triple A grade offices.

Large companies that have made Fourways their home include Ingram Micro, Seacom, Royal Bafokeng, Weylandts, Monsanto SA, Bothongo Group.

New developments

Willow Wood Office Park Bldg C has just been completed and has proved popular and the next major development is Fourways Precinct which has approved rights for 400 000m2 and will be the largest retail node in the southern hemisphere.
