Germiston

Germiston is a city in the East Rand of Gauteng in South Africa and is now the seat of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality which includes much of the East Rand, and is also considered part of Greater Johannesburg. It was established in the early days of the gold rush and the city is an industrial Centre with steel manufacturing and distribution being the largest industries. It has large railway workshops, a large glasswork, engineering companies, gas distribution firms, and many other heavy and light industries.

Germiston is predominantly an industrial area with over 700 factories, it is minutes away from large shopping malls and boasts a few superb entertainment facilities. Rand Airport offers great opportunities for development, because of its prime position in the Centre of the country's industrial heartland and the government's growth zone.

Other important business areas include Alrode, Meadowdale and Wadeville.

Alrode

Alrode was established in 1943 and is a predominately heavy manufacturing area located close to the highway network in Germiston. It is attractive to large manufacturers because of the easy access to the N3 highway and other major arterial routes and it is close to the labour pool of Thokoza, Vosloorus and Katlehong. There is also ample power in the area.

Wadeville, situated on the East Rand, is a popular industrial hub in Gauteng. It is predominately a manufacturing area and is attractive because of the easy access to the N17 and N3 highways and is close to the labour pools at Thokoza and Vosloorus.
