Area Profile
Overview
Midrand is conveniently situated between Pretoria and Johannesburg, and is part of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. It lies just 30 km from O.R. Tambo International airport. It also has its own airport – the Grand Central Airport and is one of the train stops on the super-fast Gautrain rail system. Midrand is situated along the N1 highway between Buccleuch interchange and Olifantsfontein off ramp.
A top business centre
Midrand has developed and grown rapidly during the past ten years. Many businesses have relocated there due to its proximity to good highway links and its location in the economic centre of the Gauteng Province. Today it is home to the largest exhibition and conference centre in South Africa, the Gallagher Estate. Thriving businesses like Vodacom, MTN, Liquid Telecoms, PWC and Mecer are all found within its business community.
A hub of industry and commerce
Midrand also features some major industrial and commercial developments including the mixed-use Waterfall City precinct, which is home to Mall of Africa the Midrand Central Business Park and the International Business Gateway.
Midrand Central Business Park
The Midrand Central Business Park is a modern industrial development attractive to many companies, especially those running warehousing, distribution and logistics facilities. Today it provides market-ready industrial and business space tailored to clients’ size and operational needs. Strategically positioned at the Allandale K101 Interchange close to the N1 highway. The estate features access control, CCTV monitoring and a guardhouse, and also provides large yard space for easy reticulation and docking and driving access.
International Business Gateway
The International Business Gateway is a large, modern business park that has office space to let in Midrand. Situated within 3kms of the Midrand Gautrain station and the N1 highway it has access to all Gauteng’s major business areas. Today it is home to businesses like Axiz, BCX, Pragma and Nepad.
Waterfall City
This new commercial hub is home to many completed developments including PWC Head Office, Group Five Head Office and soon to be Deloitte's Head Office. It is also home to the Mall of Africa, the largest, single-phase mall in Africa, with more than 131, 000m² retail space.
If you’re looking for a new warehouse to rent, the Waterfall distribution Campus offers prime warehousing space, with warehouses already occupied by Covidien, Digistics and the very first warehouse built in the area for Massbuild.
